Pipe Bomb Injures Four in Northfield, Vermont

A developing story out of Northfield, Vermont as State Police say an explosion in an apartment Wednesday night left four people injured.
Police say the explosion was caused by a homemade pipe bomb, and that a second unexploded device was found in the apartment and safely defused.
According to a press release, five people were home at the time of the explosion, with one receiving serious injuries. Police responded to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. last night at the corner of North Street and Maple Ave., and evacuated neighboring residents as a precaution.
Both the Northfield police and fire departments responded to the scene, as did troopers from the Middlesex barracks as well as members of the Vermont State Police Bomb Squad.
Authorities haven’t said whether any arrests have been made as a result of the explosion, but did acknowledge that a joint investigation between state and federal officials remains ongoing.
