The season of giving continues, this time over in Newport. WCNL radio station, began their annual Toys for Tots toy drive in front of his radio station on Main Street Tuesday.

From December 9 through December 11 from 6am to 5pm each day, they will be accepting unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots program. The toy drive has already collected over 140 toys as of 11am today but there is still plenty of room in the truck for many more toys.

This year there is a need for crayons and for toys for both young girls and babies, but any and all toys as well as cash donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Toys for Tots program is a nationwide charity program started by Major Bill Hendricks from the US Marine Corp in 1947 to provide toys for children in need at Christmas time.

Toys collected for the Toys for Tots program in the local community are given to children in within the community.
