There’s still three more days before the Sunapee boys basketball team begins regular-season play, so we thought we’d check in with this year’s team to gauge expectations.
The Lakers fell well short of their goals last season with an 8-11 overall record and loss in the first round of the tournament, but Sunapee coach Ed Tenney said he’s optimistic this year’s team has both the athleticism and work ethic to put together a much deeper tournament run.
Sunapee will be without its leading scorer from a year ago in Issaiah Chappell, who left the school to attend prep school down in Massachuessets.
Still, co-captain Mike Puksta said he thinks this year’s team has the talent to surprise those who picked the Lakers to struggle this year.
The Lakers will open their season Friday when they host Woodsville.
