Chase With Canaan Police Ends In Rollover, Arrest

New information was released Tuesday on a wild police chase that ended with a rollover and subsequent arrest by the Canaan Police Department.

According to a press release, Canaan Police attempted to stop 40-year-old Martin O’Connor for a motor vehicle violation as he was driving along Route 4 just after 9:30 Sunday evening.

When O’Connor didn’t pull over his 1999 Infiniti sedan and increased his speed, officers pursued the vehicle onto Route 118 and eventually into the town of Orange.

Officers called off the chase off due to increasing safety concerns, but police found the Infiniti overturned a short time later on Burnt Hill Road. O’Connor crawled from under the vehicle and attempted to run into the woods, but officers eventually took the man into custody.

O’Connor suffered minor injuries, was treated on the scene, and was later charged with disobeying an officer and operating after suspension. He is scheduled to appear in Lebanon District Court on Jan. 11.
