Following up on a story we brought you just last week as new information has been reported on the abrupt canceling of a scheduled auction at the former Claremont Ford Lincoln Dealership.
The defunct dealership on Washington Street was supposed to have its two adjacent buildings auctioned off Nov. 19, but those who showed up to the lot found no auction and were given no explanation as to why the event was canceled.
In a recent interview, though, Mascoma Savings Bank President Barry McCabe told the Valley News the auction was canceled due to a change in circumstances with their customer. McCabe didn’t elaborate further on the circumstances, but did say that Arrien Schiltkamp – the dealership’s former owner – still owns the two buildings.
The dealership’s license was suspended this summer after it failed to pay liens on more than 100 vehicles taken as trade-ins., and was later rendered out of business when the Ford Motor Company seized more than $3.2 million dollars in inventory.
