A 23-year-old man seriously injured when he was struck by a car Monday night has succumbed to his injuries. Police identified the pedestrian as Jordan Pfenning, a former soccer standout at Springfield High School, who died Tuesday night at nearby Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
The accident occurred Monday night shortly after 6 p.m. in front of the McDonald’s on Chester Road at the intersection of Routes 11 and 106. According to a press release, Pfenning was struck by an oncoming vehicle while standing in or near the roadway.
Springfield Police say no charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle as of yet, but that their investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Police say they will not release the identity of the driver until their investigation is complete.
