Dartmouth Settles Lawsuit with Former Assistant Lacrosse Coach

A former assistant women’s lacrosse coach has reached a settlement with Dartmouth College after claims she was wrongfully fired for missing weeks of work around the time of her father’s death.

Tracy Coyne worked as one of two assistant coaches for the Big Green between August of 2013 and January of 2014, but was fired the day after she returned to Hanover following a 2-and-a-half week absence after her father’s death.

Coyne responded by filing a three-count suit against the college, in which she alleged she was wrongfully terminated, owed entitled overtime pay and suffered mental and emotional distress as a result of her termination.

According to court documents filed earlier this month, Coyne announced she had struck a deal with the college and would no longer pursue the charges, though specific terms of the settlement have not been revealed. Coyne is now the head women’s lacrosse coach at George Washington University.
