New information on a story we’ve been following for some time, as the Planned Parenthood here in Claremont has yet to open its doors since it was vandalized for the second time in two weeks late last month.
Planned Parenthood’s Vice President of Public Policy told the Valley News that the Pleasant Street facility will remain closed for three more weeks, while contractors work to repair an estimated tens of thousands of dollars in damage. According to Claremont Police, an unidentified male juvenile broke into the facility during the early morning hours of Oct. 21, and used a hatchet to cause extensive damage to walls, equipment and plumbing fixtures that also flooded a neighboring business.
That incident was the second act of vandalism on the office in two weeks, as the word “murderer” was found spray-painted on the its front windows Oct. 6.
Police haven’t said whether the individual apprehended Oct. 21 was also responsible for the first incident.
