State police have identified the name of a Brattleboro man who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday afternoon.
According to a press release, 26-year-old Nicholas Widomski was struck while he and Harrison Johnson, of Marlboro, were walking on the tracks shortly after 1 p.m.
Widomski was taken to nearby Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where he dies from his injuries. Johnson was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
The Vermonter train was carrying 45 passengers at the time of the accident, headed from St. Albans, Vermont to Washington D.C. None of the passengers were injured, and the train was delayed for approximately 45 minutes while police and Amtrak officials investigated the accident.
Brattleboro Police say the investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and is asking anyone with information contact the department at 802-257-7946.
