Thursday night in Concord New Hampshire, media outlets all across the state were recognized by the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters in 19 categories. The yearly event was held at the Grappone Center and was themed to echo broadcasting’s long history with the sport of baseball.
The New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters received nearly 700 submissions as part of this year’s awards. Taking the top spot of Station of the Year was WMUR-TV and 95.7 WZID-FM for television and radio respectively. WMUR, based out of Manchester, was the biggest winner of the night, taking 11 first place awards in the 19 categories.
A handful of local broadcasters took home awards, like WFRD in Hanover for coverage of Dartmouth hockey and WCNL Newport for their program Workforce Wakeup with Steve Smith.
Now you may be wondering, did YCN win anything? I’m pleased to announce that indeed we did! WYCU took home the 2nd place award for television sports play-by-play for our Game of the Week program. If you need any proof as to how we got the award, check out our next Game of the Week, airing next Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
