Now that we’re inside two months until Christmas, the Bellows Falls Police Department is gearing up for its annual “Adopt an Angel” program to make sure the holidays are as bright as possible for families of all financial situations.
The program – which officially begins November 1st – encourages local families to stop by the police station on Rockingham Street to select an “Angel” off their Christmas Tree. Participants will then be asked to fill out a brief application, and purchase a gift – or gifts – for that particularl child and drop it off at the police station.
People who don’t select an “Angel” in time can still participate by dropping off an unwrapped gift by December 20th. Gifts must be dropped off unwrapped as to ensure they’re safe and appropriate for children, and it should also be noted the program has a strict policy against toy guns.
The “Adopt an Angel” program was created in 2007 by a former police chief, and has increased in popularity every year since.
