599 Bags of Heroin Seized from Connecticut Couple in Bellows Falls
We start tonight in Bellows Falls Vermont where a Connecticut couple is facing serious charges after police found 600 bags of heroin in their car.
Police say that on Friday night, around 10:00 pm, they stopped a vehicle for a civil violation and were granted consent to search the vehicle. Police initially found a small amount of cocaine and 19 packets of an unknown substance. The driver of the car, 28-year old Kevin Chapman of New Britain Connecticut ran from the scene and was apprehended later.
The other occupant, 29-year old Veronica River of Hartford was arrested without incident and charged with possession of cocaine. A K9 unit searched the vehicle after a warrant was granted and the canine found 599 bags of heroin and over an ounce of cocaine.
The pair is facing charges of trafficking heroin, transportation of heroin in the state, possession of crack cocaine-greater than 1 oz, and attempting to elude.
