Two Vermont Gubernatorial Candidates Launch Campaigns

Two candidates for Vermont governor officially kicked off their campaigns this week, as Google Executive and Hartland resident Matt Dunne and fellow Democratic candidate Sue Minter both held well-attended rallies.

Dunne held his kickoff event Monday up in Barre, while Minter attracted 100s during the first rally of her campaign yesterday in Waterbury. Vermont House Speaker Shap Smith is also running on the democratic ticket, while lieutenant governor Phil Scott and businessman Bruce Lisman have announced bids on the republican side.

Current Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin announced over the summer that he would not be seeking a fourth term in the state’s highest office, after serving in the position since 2010.
