Valley Regional Hospital Lays Off Five Employees

CLAREMONT – We begin tonight with news that Valley Regional Hospital here in Claremont has laid off five employees – with another going from full to part time – according to an email to employees obtained by YCN News.

President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Wright said in the email sent out Wednesday that the hospital is currently in a very challenging financial situation, and that Valley Regional’s board of trustees sincerely and deeply regret the need to make these changes.

According to the email, two of the five laid-off employees were classified as “long-term” employees, and an additional two vacant positions within plant operations and outpatient clinics will remain unfilled.

Wright said in his email that no direct patient care positions have been impacted, and that Valley Regional is not planning to make any more cuts or eliminations at this time.
