Sunapee Volleyball Keeps Streak Alive With Win Over Franklin
The Sunapee volleyball team has had nothing but success since suffering its first loss of the season early last week, so the Lakers were hopeful that trend would continue during Monday night’s showdown against Franklin.
And while coach Tom Rainey’s team didn’t have its best night from the service line, Sunapee still made relatively quick work of the Golden Tornadoes, earning its third-straight sweep and fourth of the season. The Lakers took the first-two sets 25-20, before winning the third and final set by a score of 25-12.
Sunapee did have a couple highlights from the service line, though, as Laura Sullivan continued her dominance with a handful of aces, while lebero Abby Palin had Franklin off balance throughout the night thanks to her powerful jump serve that resulted in seven aces on the night.
Mike Pezone spoke with Palin after the match, who acknlodged that serving was an issue tonight, and that her team sometimes has a tendency to play down to its opponent.
Mike also spoke with Sunapee coach Tom Rainey, who echoed Palin’s statements, while also giving Franklin credit for handling his team’s serves.
The Lakers will try and improve to 5-1 tomorrow when they host Hillsboro-Deering.
