The owners of a former fitness club in Lebanon are being forced to refund lifetime memberships as part of an agreement reached Wednesday with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

According to a press release, owners David and Lisa Terreri will begin making refunds within the next 10 days, totalling more than $5,000. The Upper Valley Underground was located on Hanover Street from April 2011 to May of this year, but came under fire from the Attorney General’s Office after failing to register with the state on an annual basis.

The club was also found to have been violating a state law that says memberships cannot be issued lasting longer than 12 months – therefore deeming the club’s lifetime memberships, illegal.

As part of the terms, the Terreri’s have also agreed not to own, operate or be affiliated with a health club in New Hampshire for 10 years.
