The Kearsarge boys soccer team handed Stevens its first loss of the season last night, but not without a little bit of controversy. The Cougars shot their way to a 2-1 lead after the end of the first half, but that’s when the skies opened up with heavy rain and consistent thunder and lightening. And as per NHIAA rules, the score was deemed final, giving Kearsarge the win after just 40 minutes of play.
Stevens jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Ethan Sweet found the back of the net 5 minutes into the game, but the Cougars responded with goals from Nick Brady and Jack VanEtten to claim the lead – and eventual victory.
And now taking a look at the YCN Scoreboard, the Mascoma boys soccer team came away with its first win of the season yesterday in shutout fashion, while the Fall Mountain and Kearsarge girls came up a little short.
Over in Vermont, the Springfield girls soccer team earned its first win behind hat tricks from Calista Polidor and Lizzie Mackenzie.
And looking at local volleyball scores, Hanover improved to 3-0 on the season with a sweep of Con-Val last night, while Sunapee earned its first win with a shutout of its own.
