Nine members of the crew from the USS Kearsarge began a two-day visit to their ships namesake and the town of Warner Monday. As part of the ships’ process to help the crewmen develop an appreciation for the naming of the boat, crew members make a periodic visit to the area.
This is the 4th visit from the USS Kearsarge to the mountain. As part of the visit they hiked the mountain, had a picnic lunch provided by town members, and spend the balance of the day cutting and clearing vistas for the thousands of tourists and hikers that visit Mount Kearsarge every year.
Monday night the crew will be hosted by the town at a potluck dinner at the town hall. Tuesday we’ll have more about the crew and community and what makes this special for both.
