WRJ VA Director Headed to Phoenix AZ

The VA Medical Center in White River Junction is on the hunt for a new director. This coming after it was announced Monday that Deborah Amdur will be leaving the facility after nearly three years at the helm.

According to a press release issued Monday by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Amdur will take over the controversial Phoenix VA Health Care System beginning on Dec. 13.

The Phoenix system came under heavy national scrutiny two years ago after numerous instances of criminal misconduct were confirmed among staff, as well as several allegations of negligence leading to wrongful deaths.

Amdur will now oversee a staff more than triple the size of what she managed in Vermont, featuring more than 3,000 employees. During her three years in White River Junction, the VA ranked in the top 5 among VA facilities for access to primary care and mental health appointments.
